Practitioner mentoring in gender affirming care
mentoring
This practitioner mentoring service is dedicated to helping complementary medicine providers deliver respectful, person centred, trauma informed and gender-affirming care to trans and gender diverse clients.
This service expands on the foundation of the Trans & Gender Diverse Health Webinar*, offering deeper clinical support, personalised guidance, and ongoing professional development for naturopaths, nutritionists, and other complementary medicine/allied health practitioners committed to inclusive practice.
Whether you're looking to refine your intake process, interpret pathology in the context of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), or understand herb and nutrient interactions, this mentorship equips you with the knowledge and tools to provide competent, compassionate care.
*You do not need to have completed the Trans & Gender Diverse Health Webinar to sign up for mentoring. However, I do recommend this if you are new to the topic.

- Interpreting blood work in clients on feminising and masculinising hormone therapy
- Understanding herb, nutrient, and drug interactions with gender affirming hormones
- Managing complex cases
- Navigating contraindications with common endocrine-modulating herbs (e.g., Paeonia, Vitex, Spearmint)
- Critical appraisal of trans health research and identifying misinformation
- Case study analysis and reflective practice
- Creating/reviewing inclusive clinical practices including intake forms, consult questions, client handouts and reception practices
- Other topics of your choice
Why this matters
Research shows 60% of trans young people feel isolated from healthcare, and 42% have encountered a provider who didn’t respect their gender identity. These experiences lead to delayed care, mistrust, and poorer health outcomes.
Complementary medicine is utilised by approximately two out of three people living in Australia, and trans and gender diverse people deserve equal access to this care.
Additionally trans and gender diverse folk are far more likely to experience chronic health concerns related to systemic discrimination (including poor access to affirming care). Creating services that are trauma informed, gender affirming and person centred can improve health outcomes for trans people.
