Anti-racist community of practice
Join an anti-racist community of practice
Why?
The natural health industry often co-opts and profits from the healing practices of Indigenous peoples and other culturally and racially marginalised peoples.
when?
Sessions are the first Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to 7pm AWST and free to join.
how does it work?
Each month I will send out a pre-reading by a BIPOC author on a relevant topic e.g. how to be anti-racist, racism within healthcare, the white-washing of First Nations healing practices.
We will reflect on our own biases and discuss how we can implement these learnings in our clinical practices.
Why is the group for white folks?
So we can reflect on and unlearn biases to avoid causing more harm to culturally and racially marginalised people.
This group is not white practitioners deciding what culturally and racially marginalised people need in terms of healthcare. We will be learning from the writings of BIPOC scholars and advocates.
Show up imperfectly and do your best
Reflect on how we can all do better to create anti-racist clinical practices
Share mistakes and hold each other accountable
