ACCESSIBILITY

It’s important to me that you can access and benefit from the services I provide. My services include a number of accommodations to help you get the most out of your consult, and you’re welcome to request additional accommodations.

Things I’m mindful of as part of my practice:

  • Past or present struggles with disordered eating or experiences of weight stigma.

  • Sensory needs, particularly when discussing nutrition or giving recommendations around nutrition and everyday supportive health practices.

  • Using non-gendered language.

  • Your cultural beliefs or customs. In your intake form I invite you to share any beliefs, customs or values which I should be mindful of during our consult or which may influence the health recommendations I provide. e.g. If your religion or culture includes avoiding certain foods.

Accommodations built into my services:

  • Talking through options that we can include in your wellbeing plan and inviting you to decide which option suit you.

  • Providing information on what to expect from a consult ahead of time.

  • Welcoming you to sit down, stand up, move around, stim, fidget, eat, drink, use the bathroom or take a break during your consult.

  • Using non-demanding language. I provide information and options, and avoid making specific firm recommendations.

    • e.g. instead of recommending that you “include a handful of almonds and pepitas each day”,
I might say “including a handful of nuts and seeds daily can have the following benefits ____.”

  • Providing a written explanation/summary of current and next steps in the form of a wellbeing plan at the end of your consult.

  • Inviting you to email me after the consult with any relevant information you forgot to share or felt too nervous to bring up during the consult.

Accommodations available on request:
(simply tick the box on your intake form)

  • Closed captions and typing features during your online consult.
My usual telehealth software does not include a closed captions or typing feature, so please request this feature if you need it so I can send you a link to a different online platform (Zoom).

  • A recording talking through your wellbeing plan and next steps (you’d record this on your device during our session).

  • A short pre-consult chat via phone or email about what to expect.

I welcome you to request other accommodations. On the intake forms there’s a space for this, or you can email me to discuss an accommodation. If I am unable to provide an accommodation I will suggest an alternative or can refer you to different service.
