What to expect
What to expect from an initial Consult
-
Not sure if I'm the right naturopath for you? Send me an email with any questions about my services and information about your health concern and I can let you know if/how I can help! I'm not the right naturopath for everyone, if I can't support you with your health concern I will reach out to my network and find someone who can.
When you're ready to book, head to the bookings page and select a date and time that works for you. You can choose to book either a telehealth or phone consult - please select whichever option you feel comfortable with.
On booking your consult you are able to select from the regular or concession price. I do not require any proof of financial stress/concession card to book the discounted price. I trust that you will select the price suited to you.
On booking your consult you will receive a welcome email. This email will include a link to an online intake form to complete before your first consult, and the link to access your telehealth appointment (an option for a phone consult is also available).
-
Filling in the intake form is an opportunity for you to let me know about your health concerns. This helps to make the most of our appointment time together. The form includes questions about your primary health concern/s, family history, current medications or supplements, overall health and well-being. You can also upload copies of test results such as blood tests or scans from the previous 6-months.
The intake form provides a space to share access requirements and request accommodations.
Where possible, completing the intake form 1-week before your initial consult helps me to prepare to address your health concerns.
-
Online payment is taken at the time of booking your initial consult. For pricing see the Services page.
I require 24 hours notice of cancellation. Providing plenty of notice allows another client to access this spot and supports my small business. You will receive a full refund when you cancel your appointment with 24 hours or more notice.
-
You will receive a link for your telehealth consult the week of your appointment. At the time of your appointment click on the link and your telehealth consult will open in your browser.
I use encrypted telehealth software, you do not need to download a program to access your appointment.
You do require a computer, phone or tablet device which has audio and video. If you require closed captions or typing features please email me to receive a link for a zoom consult.
I recommend finding a quiet, comfortable and private space for your online consult.
-
During your initial appointment we will discuss your key health concerns and what you are looking for.
I discuss food, everyday supportive health practices and all areas of health with judgement free language and provide realistic and balanced suggestions. We co-create a wellbeing plan which may include nutrition support, everyday supportive health practices, supplements and recommended testing to address your primary health concern/s.
I work alongside conventional medicine and cannot provide any recommendations on medications prescribed by a medical doctor. It's important for me to know which medications you take to avoid any drug-herb-nutrient interactions.
I understand health appointments can be stressful for many people. You’re welcome to bring along a support person to your online consult. If you struggle to remember your relevant health information during health consults, it's a great idea to create a list of key points prior to the consult to ensure we discuss all of your health priorities.
-
A greater understanding of your health concern. A key naturopathic principle is education. We aim to provide you with the information needed to address your health concerns.
At the end of our consult I’ll email you your wellbeing plan that we co-create together during our session. It may include nutrition support, everyday supportive health practices, supplements and recommended testing to address your primary health concern/s.
I often recommend further testing which can be accessed through my services or requested from your GP (I recommend the most cost effective option).
If you are struggling with your plan in between your initial and follow up consult, I encourage you to email me! There may be simple tweaks we can make which can get you more progress before your follow up consult.

An adapted version of your wellbeing plan. This might involve changes to your recommended supplements, additional nutrition and everyday supportive health practices, alongside resources to support you with implementing these suggestions.
Often a wellbeing plan will have stages. For example, when addressing chronic bloating and loose bowel movements we might use a stages approach:
Stage 1: Provide symptomatic relief while completing further testing to determine the cause bloating and loose stool.
Stage 2: Address overgrowth of pathogens or opportunistic gut bugs seen on testing.
Stage 3: Provide prebiotic fuel to feed beneficial gut bugs and support long term gut health.
-
This is different for everyone and really depends on how long you have been experiencing the symptoms, the type of health concern and factors specific to you such as a high levels of stress.
If your symptoms are not changing after 3-4 consults I will refer you on to another healthcare provider.
Extended test results consult
-
An extended test results consult is ideal for providing you with in depth insights into your test results and how we can use this information to support your primary health concerns.
Testing which requires in depth explanation includes GI mapping, organic acids testing, Dutch testing and genetic testing. This consult is not required for interpretation of basic blood tests e.g. iron testing.
I provide guidance on whether your testing requires an extended test results consult at your prior appointment.
If you are a new client and would like interpretation of complex testing ordered through another provider, please book an initial appointment. We can discuss and review prior testing in a 60 minute initial consult, and this will ensure you receive a new client intake form on booking. Test interpretation requires an understanding of your symptoms and overall well-being. Test results are interpreted in the context of the whole picture not in isolation.
When booking a consult, head to the bookings page and select extended test results consult from the drop down menu.
You will receive email confirmation and a telehealth link (unless booking a phone consult).

An extended test results consult includes an in depth assessment of your test results. I take you through the results step by step and explain how we can address markers which are outside the testing reference ranges. At the start of your consult I will email you a copy of these test results. You are welcome to record the consult on your device to listen back to at a later date.
-
You will leave the consult with a better understanding of the root causes of your health concerns/symptoms and an updated wellbeing plan. This updated plan reflects the insights gained from your test results.
I also provide a short plain language summary of your test results.
